Back to Mango Bay after an unforgettable day trip to Yanuca Surf Camp. The rest of our time was spent chilling at the resort. Basically we did alot of swimming, beach volley ball and reading!
We got to know alot of the people who worked in the resort. The manager Danny was pretty cool and came out on a couple of fishing trips with us and was very kind for us giving us a night free because we had stayed so long!
We also got to know Johnny the music man! He used to come and play the guitar whilst we were eating dinner which was really nice. We actually got him to buy some cava for us and we sat out one night, he played the guitar and we just sat there and drank cava.
Drinking Cava is all about ceremony in Fiji. First of all you had to bless the bowl of Cava and then when you came to drink if you had to clap once before the bowl was handed to you and then say BULA!, you then had to neck the bowl of 'muddy water' and then afterwards you had to clap 3 times! Its quite nice actually even if it does look foul!
We visited a near by town called Sigatoka. it was just a smallish town probably smaller than Guernsey. it had a market and food places and alot of souvenir places! We had to take the bus there but on the way back we got on the wrong bus and ended up on the school bus. The bus could only probably take 40 people but there was close to 80 screaming kids on board. All laughing singing and shouting. Apparently we were celebs. We had a meal at one of the local indian restaurants (50% of the fijian population is Indian) and were a little worried about the quality of the curry. The bits of chicken were a bit dodgey to say the least!
On the day before our departure we were in the restaurant and all ofthe staff came in and sang us a departure song! I can't remember the name of the song but it was to say goodbye and it signified how sad they were for us to be leaving and may our onward journey be safe! It was quite emotional!
