Finally another country and a relaxing one at that! We left 30mins late from Auckland which was no biggy but had to turn around when the captain comes over the tannoy and says 'Ladies and Gentlemen i'm afraid we are going to have to turn around and land at Auckland as the front door is not closed properly!' Now i'm not a particulary good flyer but this did nothing for my heightening pulse rate when we started to hit the turbulence! Thankfully we landed safely again but the ordeal was not over yet! We had to sit on the tarmac while they tried to fix the door, and then they had to check the aircraft again because we landed 'heavy' (i think that means we landed with fuel) and to top things off they had to work out how they were going to get the Engineer off the plane as he was needed to ensure that the door was closed properly so he had to be on the inside! Looks like he was coming to Fiji then!
Finally we arrived into Fiji (after I spilt orange juice all over some important notes that a fijian business man was mulling over, it really didn't make the 4 hour flight go particulary quickly) and we headed off to the resort in a taxi due to our late arrival as the buses had stopped running!
Waking up the next day we were in paradise so we took to the sun beds and started the activity for the next week, reading and sun baking! It was so nice to sleep in and relax. Ian arrived later that day and the Guernsey boys + 1 welsh were reunited! It was all good so in true travelling style we celebrated with a couple of Fiji Bitters (the national drink for sportsmen)
The second day we visited a local school where they were initiaiting the new prefects, it was cool to be part of the ceremony. We got a tour of the local village and a tour of the school. The kids sang to us and involved us in some of the games! Ian got so involved in the game that he pushed one of the kids into a pole, hes too competitive! As we were leaving I got offered a job as a teacher because apparently I was big and strong, not really sure what that has to do with teaching but unfortunatley I had to decline!
Tomorrow we are off to one of the islands called Yanuca to visit the village and do some snorkelling and fishing!
