Our arrival into Santiago was delayed by around 5 hours due to a somewhat eventful coach journey which involved waiting at a random truck stop for about 1.5 hrs without having any idea why (we later found out it was due to an overturned lorry on one of the cliff roads) and then a horrendously long wait at customs because one of the guys on our coach tried to take 2 apples across the border (it seems the Chileans are obsessed with people not bringing food in...

The past week has been absolutely amazing, if also more than a little bit emotional! This city has everything - steaks, red wine, tango, culture, interesting history, friendly people, perfect weather and all affordable. I have fallen in love with it all over again, and could even see myself living here one day! So we arrived in Foz do Iguacu on the Brazilian side of the falls on Wednesday morning after finally seeing some sun in Rio on our last day, albeit from the inside of the bus!! We didn't have much luck in Rio that's for sure! Thankfully the good weather followed us and after meeting Gaz from work at the hostel we spent the rest of the day, as well as Thursday, just relaxing with some beers by the pool, as well as taking mucho siesta time to make up for the lack...

We arrived in Rio late Saturday night and formed a 7 after meeting Heather's mate Frenchie at the airport. The hostel looked like a prison from the outside! Luckily we were only due to stay for one night and inside it wasn't too bad. The owner was slightly crazy (don't think we've met one Brazilian person that isn't) and had no record of our booking but fortunately had enough beds for us all to squeeze in! We were pretty happy to arrive in Salvador after the godawful (or amazing according to Jonny) boat trip from Manuas to Santarem and then the 3 flights to take us from Santarem back to Manuas (!), Manuas to Brasilia and Brasilia to Salvador. Miracurously all our bags made it and we rocked up to the hostel about 1am on Sunday morning.
