Following a way too chirpy lecture on DVT from our Greyhound driver at 3am, we arrived into Cairns at 6.30am on Sunday morning, which was pretty brutal but luckily we were able to check into our dorm straight away and had a snooze, which was amazing as it was the first time for days we had been in a proper bed! We arrived at Proserpine airport in tropical heat (after Hutch had been told off on-board for not taking the security briefing seriously!) and had to jump on a transfer bus, but only after dealing with the unnecessary scrum of impatient travellers which has become an unfortunate trademark of travelling in Oz, which basically consisted of the friendly but massively cheesy driver whittering on for an hour for the drive to Airlie Beach, when all we wanted to do was ...

Luckily we made it to Rainbow Beach in time for our briefing, and we were both pretty relieved that our stupidity would not prevent us from doing the Fraser Island trip! We were put in a group with 2 other couples: Kayleigh, Jerome, Chris, Hollie and then two german guys Roman and Gerome.
