Oi Oi from the biggest island in Malaysia, Pulau Langkawi.
We arrived here around midday off our Iceberg of a ferry. Ferry had the coldest Air-Con and with the weather not being too hot made it feel like we were in a freezer so we were both glad when arrived on Langkawi.
We were shown a few hotels by a local taxi driver and finally chose one right on Chaeng beach which was ideal. Freshened up then headed out and rented a pair of Semi-Automatic mopeds to tour the island in. Island was quite big so took us a fair while to scoot around. Our first stop was a cable car ride at the North of the island which took you up as high to see the whole archipelago of Langkawi which consists of 99islands. The views were absolutely amazing and the weather was back to nice and sunny so made the pictures that little bit nicer.
We stopped at another few view points and nice parts of the roads to take some pictures. We checked out a golf club at the south of the island and checked out one of the coolest holes I think we both have ever seen. The hole number is 19 and used if your game is tied. The hole has no fairway, par 3 that you hit your tee shot over the peebley beach to a green right on the waterfront. Scenery was breathtaking and the course price matched it being just over £175 for your green fees lol. It was now late on in the day so we headed back to our beach to go for a wee swim, take some more snaps then go up and chill before we ventured out to sample the night-life.
Went out and had a crappy Mexican for tea and first stop was a little Irish bar which was belting out all the Westlife classics so Ian was in his element (Oh Maaaaaaaaaandy...) haha. Couple of pints of Guinness down we headed for The beach and a bar called Babylon bar, met a pair of Lads from Manchester who stayed in Kuala Lumpur who had been here quite a few times. We left quite late on and headed for the only nightclub on the island called Sambar where we had a cracking night. Met a girl from Lossiemouth and her Dutch boyfriend who was a topper, shared a table with 3girls from Uganda of all places lol who again were good crack. Left late on again in torrential rain so time we got back to our hotel were absolutely ringing!
Woke up the following morning with a slight hangover lol. We returned our rented mopeds and checked out the hotel to head for the Ferry Jetty to return to Penang for the night. The ferry was again absolutely freezing so again were glad when it came to port in Penang. Back at Penang we checked into another nicer hotel for the night, headed out where we had some really good Malay dishes that was enough to feed a family of 5 lol. Then headed out for a few jars of ale and had a little bit better of a night than previously had again getting in at around 3-4am lol! The highlight of the night was a rickshaw driver called Raymond that cycled us home and then let us both drive his rickshaw up the road for some pictures. Have got a cracking video also that should really be uploaded to YouTube lol.
The following morning we got up quite early as had not booked our onward bus so managed to book onto a bus to The Cameron Highlands via a place called Ipoh. Due to The Cameron Highlands being so high above sea level and much more inland; the temperature is a lot cooler at average around 10Degrees. They have a nice golf course that we have checked online so looking forward to a swing of the sticks and giving Al Ian here a lesson lol
Until the Highlands...
