Dresden is another beautiful German city, beautiful architecture, a lovely river, lovely shops and even a huge 102m porcelain mural
After a night there, we headed to the 'Romantic road' which links a series of picturesque Barvarian towns and cities. The first we stopped at was Rothenburg on de tauber, a very cute little walled city with bright coloured buildings and even brighter window boxes.
We spent the night in Dinkelsbuhl another medieval walled city - complete with moat. We stayed right on a lake and went to a local restaurant for dinner, which was full of German men drinking beer and eating sausages with sauerkraut. It was amazing, I wish we could have stayed there a week. The next day we continued the drive south through some of the nicest scenery I've seen - the bluest lakes, the greenest grass and all surrounded by the Bavarian alps. Our last stop on the romantic road was a little town called Fussen, which is famous for the castles of King Ludwig II . He lived in one as a child and built the second in his own style - full of swans, pastel colours and was so over the top, it was the inspiration for the castle at Disneyland.
