Awoke with a heavy feeling in my head. Pretty sure it had something to do with the copius amounts of alcohol forced upon us last night. The Major Mitchell rang its bell outside my window at dawn just to ensure I would get up in time. A quick breakfast and a goodbye to our hosts. Now it was time to head back the same old stretch of the Western back to Ballarat.
I had fueled up the night before and was keen to have a big run direct home. John and Shirl were going to stop in Tailem Bend for some fuel and a break. Wasn't long and we were on the highway on SA's beautifully finished roads heading back towards Victoria. John and Shilr Peeled off at Tailem Bend and I kept on the cruise control every now and then reliving last night when i burped in my helmet.
I pretty much kept on the gas without stopping. You could tell when Victoria came into play when the roads went pear shaped.
Back through Keith, Bordertown, Nhill and Horsham before I finally refuelled at Stall. A 460 k stint. My butt was feeling it but I knew that there was only and hour and twenty left in the ride.
Finally hit home right on 2.30 pm with the final 140 ks. Backed the bike in the drive and unloaded it for the last time. A nanna nap was in store. The bike had performed without a single hitch in excess of 13,000 klms. It was impregnated with bugs and insects everywhere and I knew a good five hour clean was in store. Strange thing was I could actually keep going. I wasn't sick of the ride at all.
Spent the next day on the bike stripping off all the plastics and hand scrubbing it. There was no road damage at all. With a polish she looked as good as the day it came home from new. I have ordered the new tyres for the Tassie extension which kicks off on the 7th of November untill the 13th. Further updates then.
Thanks to all those who took the time to comment or take a dig at us through the blog. It was fun to read the comments as much as making the blog itself. Keep on the site until I finish the Tassie component.
