Today's drive was to prove that a straight line is not always the most scenic route from A to B. Also you would need to fly. We left Bishop and followed the Eastern Sierras to Mono Lake. As we climbed to 8000 feet the tops of the mountains still were a long way above us. There is a fishing paradise with a scenic lake drive which we did and then had a look at Mono Lake. Departed Las Vegas and headed west over the Spring Mountains to Pahrump as the gateway to Death Valley. Pahrump was a surprise - Las Vegas as it may have been in the 50's. It stretched across over 10 km of desert. From Pahrump we drove across the desert to Death Valley Junction and into the National Park. The day was HOT - 113 fahrenheit .
