Today's drive was to prove that a straight line is not always the most scenic route from A to B. Also you would need to fly. We left Bishop and followed the Eastern Sierras to Mono Lake. As we climbed to 8000 feet the tops of the mountains still were a long way above us. There is a fishing paradise with a scenic lake drive which we did and then had a look at Mono Lake.
The next direction was west over the Sierras and into the Yosemite NP. We climed the Tioga Pass at just under 10,000 ft and it was freezing - so we had a picnic as a great idea. The Tuolumne Meadows are very scenic with lakes, rivers and typical Yosemite domes.
Our plan was to view Yosemite Valley from Glacier Peak but once again my plans hit a reality check so we will do that tomorrow.
Our home for the next two nights is Oakhurst.
