An early start with plans of heading out to Kutna Hora to visit the bone church was derailed by weather. But instead of torrential downpours it was a picture perfect day. We decided to take advantage of the sunshine and go exploring around the town.
Our first stop was the old Jewish cemetery. There really are no words that can describe it. Well, I guess unreal would be one. It was just so unbelievable the way tombstones were stacked almost on top of each other, like they were dropped from above and allowed to land wherever they saw fit.
After we left the cemetery we took the scenic route back to the place we got washed out of yesterday. We found a bar with an awesome view but apparently they didn't like the idea of serving us beers at 10am, so we kept walking. We trudged through the aftermath of some kind of festival and came through to an amazing park that let up to a castle. We didn't go inside as they were hosting a show for porcelain finery, and we thought it best to miss out on that. Besides there were way more interesting things outside the castle; like the robo mower! Next spring there may be a new addition to our family!!!
After taking a few more pictures inside the big castle we headed down some steps, and some more steps...and a few more steps...and when we finally made it to the bottom we were greeted by a delicious holy treat! A slow roasted pastry with cinnamon and sugar and oh so darn good.
He had beers at in a beer garden, the walked around and had lunch at what I think is a french restaurant that was across the street from a church that was founded in 1756. Gazpacho and smoked salmon on toast! Totally kicked ass!! We had some Czech wine which ironically was made out of a grape variety called portugese blue. After a couple glasses of blue and a piece of cheesecake we were back on the road!
We started making our way back to the hotel but got sidetracked by a neat looking side road that led to a fountain of two guys swordfighting, aka peeing in the direction of the other. The one guy was pretty spry with his gyrating hips and shifty doodle. The other dude looked like he showed up for a swordfight with some fresh rolled pasta he hung out to dry.
After a quick photo shoot over some more beers we stumbled upon one o our favorite things: wine tasting!! We bought a couple bottles and headed back to the hotel for realz this time. Back across the Charles bridge snapping grips pics! Basically today was all about taking as many pictures as we could.
We made it back to our hotel. Good 8hrs after we left it, but we brought with us some new wine and sore feet. After crashing we headed out for dinner and found. Nice Italian spot and got some amazing pork and mushroom gnocchi. A damn good way to end the night!!
