Auckland is New Zealand's, New York! It is the largest city and is quite sprawling but neatly arranged and everywhere is clean and upmarket.
We headed over the harbour bridge for a tour of the suburbs on our way to Devonport, this is an affluent area with most homes over $2 million. The houses were pretty and colourful and many are pre 1930's with verandahs made out of kauri wood.
The Devonport beaches are great for surfing and we stopped there on our way to North Head and Mount Victoria where we found spectacular views of the city. We arrived back in the city mid afternoon and headed for the Sky Tower.
The Sky Tower is impressive and we had great views of our ship from the top, we weren't quite brave enough to jump off and walk around the edge, but many of the ships crew did that.
Our journey on the Queen Mary brings us back here next week for the day so maybe we might pluck up courage to do it?
Tonight was the World Voyage Dinner in Sky City, the conference centre below the Sky Tower. The room was beautifully laid out and we had a great dinner, 700 guests were served and treated to a New Zealand Maori show and dancing until 11 pm, it all ended too soon and we were back onboard at midnight, heading towards Wellington.
