Started our day with probably the best breakfast buffet ever. In addition to the regular stuff like omelets meat, oatmeal, fruit etc this buffet all sorts of tropical salads, puddings, sauces, etc using coconut, guava, mango, papaya & more. If we lived here, we would eat her a lot,
Connor started with eggs for his protein and added pancakes made with taro flour. Good stuff. He like a juice made from passion fruit, guava, and oranges. He wasn't willing to try the tropical stuff. But we're making progress
We ate on a screened porch overlooking the ocean, but a couple of birds were able to sneak thru and found Connor.
After filling our bellies we hopped on the # 23 bus to Diamond Head volcano, topped off our water bottles and headed up. The hike was .8 mile on a narrow trail that rose 560 feet above the crater floor. It was the same trail Ryan took 14 years ago. At the top we saw where the military had lookouts and artillery during WWII. Had a magnificent view of downtown Honolulu and Waikiki Beach.
Connor chose not to pose for a photo at the top? So we have no proof that he did it, but he did. He ran part of the way. I guess all that protein that Nasty Nan forces on him is making him stronger.
Walking down wasn't much easier because falling was an issue. We took # 23 back using the transfer the first driver gave us.
In the afternoon Pop and Connor went to the pool while Nan did the laundry. When I checked on her she was relaxing reading a book waiting for a machine. Washing machines are located on our floor. Lucky us. Now we're clean for the cruise.
Supper was a fiasco. We planned to go to the prime rib and Alaskan king crab let buffet, but Connor wanted to try the Mongolian barbecue. You put you veggies, meat, & fish in a bowl & pay $1.35 an ounce. After adding your sauce and spices the cook poor sit all on a huge hot plate. After cooking you add your rice and noodles. I liked mine. Nan and Connor did not. We'll be ready for breakfast.
A checkout lady at the PX asked me if I had a Military Star credit card. I said I used to, but had not used it in years. She told me if I applied for one now, I would get 10% off all charges at the hotel including meals and things at the PX. The bill will be almost $2000, so I said sure. When the bill comes, I'll get a couple hundred dollars off the bill & will probably never use it again. Who thinks up these schemes.
We start the cruise portion tomorrow. I don't know about wifi service, so I might not be able to write in this blog for a week.
Thanks for reading.
