Early start to a long day. Had breakfast at 6:40 AM at the "Grab n Go" outside cafe. Connor had to eat his egg, drink some milk, eat some fruit,& only then could he have a doughnut. Nan is tough.
Met our driver at 7:30 to go on a tour of the North Shore and a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Stopped at several look out points to see the waves. They are small in summer and huge in winter. At the surfing competition in the winter waves must be 30 feet or the completion is delayed.
Made two nearly worthless stops at tourist traps where we were exposed to souvineer buying opportunities. One was the former Dole Pineapple.
The Polynesian Cultural Center should not be missed. It was started and is run by the Mormon Church as part of BYU Hawaii. The islands of Hawaii, Easter, Tinga, Tahiti, Fiji, New Zealand, and Samoa have shows and exhibits about their island. The shows are mostly quite good. The performers are native to that island. Conner got a tattoo at one stop. We also took a canoe ride and watched a boat parade.
Supper was a luau with fish, pork, and chicken along with island veggies and dessert.
The final show was a high energy production with numerous dancers, singers, and flame twirlers. It showed the circle of life or breath of life from one generation to the next.
After a one hour 15 minute ride we arrived at the Hale Kia at 10:20 PM. Connor brushed his teeth & hit the sack with no shower.
Tomorrow we go to Pearl Harbor.

Ray I guess we made a mistake by not going to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Where was the canoe ride- through a canal or in the ocean with outriggers etc?
