Another fine breakfast at the buffet
Today was LA tour day. John, our driver, was born raised, & spent his entire 45 years in LA. Told us lots of history. Small town until oil was discovered in late 1800s. Then the movies came to avoid paying Thomas Edison a royality.
LA is huge. I think John said 550 sq miles, we ride over 100 miles. Started at the Chinese Theatre and Hollywood Walk of Fame, then to the mts to see the Hollywood sign with 45 ft high letters and the Griffin Observatory where a big scene from LaLa Land was filmed . Fantastic view of LS basin and ocean
We then drive thru neighborhood where John pointed out homes of stars. After about an hours drive we wound up at Venice Beach and then Santa Monica and the famous pier.
Another 30 minute ride took us past La Brea Tar Pits to our lunch stop at the Farmers' Market - started in 1934 & features fresh veggies fruits, & all types of food choices. Connor had another pizza. That boy can eat. Nan and I shared a club sandwich.
After lunch featured more homes of the famous and a stop at Rideo Drive. Went into one store where nothing had a price in it.
Got back about 4 PM. Freshened up and went out for a snack before our show at the Staples Center. Saw the Marval Universe Live - exciting acrobatic show with lights sounds bad guys and good guys. The super heroes win of course. Many kids came in costume. Got our tickets at Stub Hub. Seats were a suite in the upper level. Great view.
Connor bought a souvineer - has $45 left to spend.
About 15 minute walk back to hotel.
Tomorrow is Universal Studios.
