But I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more…..dun na na, dun na na dundundundudundadun! After 4 days in Buenos Aires it feels like my legs are going to drop off! Buenos Aires is not one of the smallest cities we have been to! Lots of sights to see yet again. Getting to each site is a bit s***…..no literally it is s***, there is dog poo every few steps you take, ha! 9 De Julio, one of the largest streets on earth, looks like fun to drive down. I imagine if we were blind folded, feet strapped together and hands tied behind our backs, we'd do a better job down this road than most Argentinians. They are mental behind the wheel of a car…..don't forget to look both ways, you might just get hit by a bus! Phew….if I had hair it would have been grazed by that bus.
We visited the main tourist attractions…Evita's balcony, French Mall, Recoleta cemetery for the rich and famous, Le Boca (and made it out alive even though we walked there!), San Telmo/Palermo street markets/tango dancing….and most importantly, ate more steak. The Recoleta cemetery was very surreal, albeit a little morbid. They literally are houses for the dead…..tall grand graves that you can walk downstairs to the coffins. We saw Evita's Grave here too! Le Boca - the travel guides tell you that this is a rough neighbourhood and you should stick to the touristy path…..we decided to take a casual stroll……off the touristy track and swiftly realised that the guides are probably/definitely correct. With our bag held more tightly than ever before we turned 180 degrees and walked back the way we came. We did wonder why that policemen was scratching his head! On Saturday we decided we would be flashpackers and treat ourselves to a fancy meal (in aid of our 1 year anniversary together, owwwwww!) Friends had recommended la Caberra (paradilla/grill in Palermo). This did not disappoint….we went against the waiters suggestion that we had ordered enough food for a small roman army and added a Brochette to the order….brochette is Spanish for meat skewer…..little did we know this was actually four eye fillet steaks on a stick. This accompanied a 500 gram steak, another skewer full of veg and a basket of crispy potatoes………dessert then! Ice cream truffle with raspberry jam……..'hmmmmmmmmmm' Jodie said as Lewis was left with an empty spoon in his hands, still suffering from the meat sweats!
Next stop….Iguassu Falls……I wonder how many pictures of blurred water this will lead Lewis too……!!
Chau for now chicos
