This morning we all did a bike tour of Hoi An and the country side. We saw many rice fields, farmers, fishermen and even got to ride a water buffulo. It was fun biking around and we got to see so much. We also did a bamboo boat ride. The boats are like large bamboo bowls that fit 3 people. We paddled along in the river fishing for crabs. To get the crabs we had to get right into the middle of the bamboo tree. It was fine at first, but then when were were fishing I noticed a crab in the tree right beside my face. I freaked out and completely lost control. This was a problem because we were on a tippy boat. Thankfully Morgan brought me back to reality, I calmed dow and we did not fall into the water. The crabs have a similar appearance to a taranchula. I jumped over to the other side of the boat knocking the crab into the boat. After that I was jumpy and tried to stay away from the trees. Since I didn't really like the fishing thing, our guide made me some jewelry made out of bamboo leaves. He made me a crown, ring, bracelet and even some glasses.
After the bike tour we went for a fabulous Italian lunch. The chef is from Italy and the pasta was amazing. After we were all bloated, we biked over to the tailors to pick up our dresses. Our clothes weren't finished because the power was out in all of Hoi An. So we biked to the beach instead. The sky was cloudy, but I had fun swimming through the waves.
We got to keep the bikes for the day which was awesome! I absolutely loved biking around town. I wish I could just bike everywhere like that at home. It is so convenient. We had a little basket on the front for our bags and everything.
After the beach, I did a cooking class. No one else in my group wanted to, so i just joined another g-advantures tour for the cooking class. The instructor's name was Happy and she made the class so much fun. First we did a market tour and we bought all the food we needed. She also showed us how to pick the produce so we know it is fresh and ripe. I made spring rolls, papaya salad, chicken soup and banana leaf tuna. It was all tasty. I got a recipe book with all the recipes we made, so i will have to make it when I get back home.
I met up with my group members after the cooking class and we went to pick up our dresses. I loved them, especially the pink summer dress. I also picked up my sandals and they look great too. I would like to order more stuff, but we leave tomorrow so there is not enough time. I will definitely have to come back though.
Then, we went for ice cream by the river and it was the best ice cream I had ever tasted. They make it fresh with the produce from the local market. I had cocnut and green tea. Yum!
