Today was Election Day in the Philippines. There are campaign posters everywhere and there are curfews and drinking bands in place for the locals.
Today the plan was to tour the underground river cave that was named one of the new natural wonders of the world. We were planning on doing the cave tour in the morning but we were delayed a few hours because of the election.
We loaded into canoes to explore the caves. It was pitch black in the cave and bats were everywhere. The only light was this spotlight at the front of the boat. I was in charge of holding the spotlight. The guide continually gave me specific instructions on where to point the light to see different parts of the cave. I had trouble hearing and understanding him so I was not very good at my job. I was just glad to get out of the cave so I could put the light down. The cave was nice, but it wasn't as spectacular as I was anticipating.
After the tour, we went back to the hotel for a delicious buffet lunch. Then we went down the road and rented paddle boards. They are the boards that you stand on and paddle. They were so much fun! I loved it! It was cloudy and raining while we were paddle boarding, but it was warm rain. It was actually nice because we weren't too hot. We paddled to a secluded beach and it was only the five of us there.
After paddle boarding Lori and I had a massage on the beach. It was great, but I fell asleep and the lady had to wake me up.
For dinner there weren't many restaurants open so we just went to the fancy resort next door. The food was great and we ordered desserts from their assortment of fancy cakes. I had the tiramisu cheesecake. After dinner we uses the fancy hotel's wifi and then headed to bed.
