Goodbye to the Wharfe Suite and our flashpacker lifestyle (or so we thought)..... we met Danny at 8.30am for the 40 minute taxi north to Phuket Pier where we purchased our speed boat ticket to Ko Yao Noi, the trip lasted 20 minutes flying past many small thai islands that were beautiful to see..... really good fun!
We arrived on Yao Noi and was greeted by Jasmine (a friend of dannys) who very kindly had our scooters ready and waiting for our two day stay..... after a few minutes trying to decide how 3 people, 3 backpacks, 2 bags and a laptop would fit onto two tiny scooters we finally managed somehow and set off to the house we were staying in. The ride was an amusing balancing act but despite this the locals didnt look at us in an unusual way once...... a stupidly overloaded scooter is definitely a common occurrence.
A lovely ride along the sea front finally led us to our home on the island where we were absolutely blown away by the house Danny had arranged through his friend..... a huge private house set on a hill top with a 20 metre infinity pool overlooking Krabi, once again thanks to Danny we would be staying in a 20,000 baht per night house for 500 baht per person..... amazing! We settled back into flashpacker mode immediately and enjoyed the peace and tranquility provided by our own space!
Through the day we blasted around the island on our seemingly off road dirt bikes finding tiny little tracks to small bars only normally reached by boats.... we really got to see what the island had hidden away in its jungle interior.... well, I did.... Jos eyes were shut with fear of snakes and spiders jumping out coupled with my less than careful riding techniques!
Due to the time of year there were practically no other tourists on the island which made it an unbelievable experience, perfect secluded beaches and only the restaurants where the locals eat were open! We loved this place that much that two nights turned into four and each night out (joined by Danny and Jasmine) we sat with local thai people enjoying food and beer..... a full moon party on our last night (not your traditional tourist one) was great fun!
Sad to leave we said goodbye to Danny & Jasmine and headed off to Krabi.....
