On our way to Queenstown we took the inland scenic route so that we would pass Mount Cook (highest mountain in NZ), we had taken a drive out this way from Christchurch earlier in the week but due to the weather being so misty we couldnt see it!!! Today was lovely weather though so we thought we would check it out again... and we were glad we did!!

Although we didnt actually drive to Mount Cook there is a great view point from Lake Pukaki which we must say is amazingly beautiful in its own right. We also stopped at Lake Tekapo...... a stop being Craig leaving the car lights on and killing the battery, we thought we would save the $95 AA fee by push starting the car, saying this did not work would be an understatement! so 2 hours later and $95 lighter we were on the road again.

We know pictures are a poor substitute for the real thing but we hope they do the area justice as on a sunny day it is amazing... nothing like it in the UK.
