Hey guys..... finally got on here to post our first entry overseas!

Arrived in Auckland on time despite all the snow back in London, the flight was over 20 hours with a short stop in Hong Kong! Craig spent the whole time watching movies from a choice of 84 and I wouldnt shut up about the blueberry pancakes!!!

The weather when we arrived was amazing, beautiful sunshine! Checked in to our first hostel (Auckland Central Backpackers).... stayed here two nights in our 10 by 10 cell with no windows! Our first hostel experience prompted Jo to say and I quote "Im not sure travelling is for me" this made me laugh...... lots! We then managed to secure a room in the Hotel Formule 1 (voucher in local free mag) $2 cheaper so she was happy with at least windows and ensuite facilities!

After checking out all of what Auckland had to offer... with jet lag in tow!! We decided to take a recommended ferry trip to Rangitoto Island! This trip required us to walk to the top of what we would call a mountain... but when we reached the top the 360 degree views were paradise! We were blown away!! Craig almost had a heart attack just before we reached the top however!! Lol! We also checked out some of the islands lava caves which was fun!

Auckland is a nice modern little city with lots high rise buildings! The people are friendly! The Sky Tower is Aucklands main focal point and there are lots of nice parks where you can go and chill in the sun which is lovely! A great place to start our travels!

Next stop.... flying to Christchurch tomorrow!!
