The blog site is making me choose a land location...don't you all worry...i will let you know when I am really in spain.
So today is my second day on the trip. Friday, I woke up super early to go wait in a hot sticky line with all the other SASers to get on the ship. Lyndsi and I go our room assignments (I am in 3078 she is in 3076) They checked our bags (and no, they did NOT check straighteners at all) and took our passports (which I really didn't like) and sent us through orientation stations. It sort of reminded me of Washington High School's Maze Day. Everyone got all the stuff they needed for classes etc. Then I went to my room and sure enough Lyndsi and I are living across the hall from each other. Since moving in, we have left port, ate meals, hung out by the pool and had LONG meetings. Today consisted entirely of meetings. Meetings about field trips, meetings about health, meetings about IT, meetings about drinking, meetings about safety, meetings about the honor code…you get the idea…
Everyone seems to be getting a little more comfortable with each other. It is kinda weird. It's like going back to freshmen year and having to just walk up to people and say hi. Most of the time the conversations are awkward and don't go very far but sometimes they spark. I am in love with this ship though. It's beautiful. There are so many places to hang out and so many cool things to see. My favorite is on the back of all the pictures hung in the rooms are messages from SAS alumni. They give tips about the ship, about the crew, and about the locations they went to. Also watching people (myself included) get their "sea legs" on is hilarious. I mean I am already a bit of a klutz but it is a whole other story while the ship is rocking.
