Bog from Croatia (bog means hi)!!!! The first thing I have to say about Croatia is it is HOT! I'm talking 112 F with high humidity. You start sweating literally the minute you walk off the ship. The silver lining of this is that I spent the last 3 days mostly at the beach. The first day off, my rommie, Simone and I hit the old city, which basically turned into a beach trip. It is pretty much impossible to go out during the day in Croatia without hitting a beach. Afterwards the girls (Katie, Erica, Lyndsi and I) hit the town and went on a really fun bar crawl around Dubrovnik.
Next morning, I slept in, enjoyed a lovely lunch on the ship and then Lyndsi, Erica and I headed to a place a local told us to go to. All he said was "get on bus 7". So we hopped on bus 7 and headed to wherever it led us. We ended up getting off at a cute little area, where it was much cooler. We walked down and, you guessed it, found a beach and jumped right in! On our walk we also found little kiosks advertising a 3 island cruise. Naturally we bought tickets and did that yesterday… That night, my neighbor, Trevor, and I went to go see the folk song and dance. Very awesome. It's very interesting though. The Croatians value alto range voices significantly more than soprano, at least based on their traditional songs. The choir was very very good, but I can only take so much choir without acting…The men in the choir were phenomenal though. I just love men's voices, specifically lower range, which was pretty much all they had…or at least sang. It was awesome. I intend on buying their album online when I get a chance to download things. After the concert we went to a wine bar and did some tasting. The Croatians make some great wines as well. There grapes are very very good. I wish I could bring a bottle back with me on the ship L
Like I said, yesterday we went on a 3 island cruise. We went to 3 islands off the coast of Dubrovnik, I couldn't tell you the names off the top of my head. All three were very similar…beaches, pretty stone buildings, and more beaches. Yes…I did get sunburned…but hopefully by the time I get back all of you will be ever so impressed with how tan I am. After the cruise and a lovely shower we went out to a club with a bunch of SASers. It was so much fun! We danced the night away and then yes, I went skinny dipping in Croatia. One to the top (maybe even THE top) moments of Croatia.
Tomorrow off to Greece!!!
