Day 33 - Pai
Today we had, again, planned to leave Pai and ended up staying. We spent the day in a cafe drinking strawberry ice shakes and reading magazines before we went for dinner. After dinner we decided to go to a few of the bars we had missed out on so far, and ended up in another reggae bar with an English couple for the rest of the night. Michael played pool with some weirdo German guy who he beat, and then the guy came over to Michael with a shot of whiskey haha. Michael drank it cause he didn't want to be rude, but judging by his face he didn't enjoy! When the bar closed the owner let us buy another couple of beers and he went home and left us there to finish them off.
Day 34 - Nong Khai
So we finally decided to leave today, and got the bus from Pai back to Chiang Mai. We had to sit in the front seat beside the driver and I feared for my life the whole way. He was a maniac and the road from Pai is scary enough as it is! When we got to Chiang Mai three hours later we asked about the night bus to Laos. It was leaving in one and a half hours, so we booked our seats and went to get some dinner before coming back to the bus service shop where we found absolute chaos. There were three buses going to Laos, we didn't know which one was ours and no one could tell us, everyone looked confused. This went on for half an hour, with all the bus drivers getting a but P'd off. We eventually got on our mini van and set off quite late. The mini van was not in the slightest bit comfy so it was practically impossible to sleep, so thank god for the iPods. They kept us sane throughout the night, and ten hours later we were leaving Thailand and getting our visas for Laos.
