Day 23 - Chiang Mai
Michael and I had to check out at 11am and move to a different room this morning. So at 10am, feeling terrible, we got up to pack our stuff up and move. The new room is much better with air con instead of a fan. We were Planning to go back to sleep, but nic arrived with some water and crisps for us and came in and we had some hangover chit chat for about 2 hours. We laughed a lot, were loving having her here! So we went out for some lunch and a watermelon slushy to make me feel better and then had a wee nap, and we were cured!
Me, Nicola and lynsay had booked a Thai cooking class for the evening. Michael is enjoying his book too much so he wanted to stay and read that haha. The people who run the cooking class picked us up from our hotel in a pick up truck taxi thing where the four other people who were doing the class were. They were all from Ireland and the same age as us. We got to the place and were given aprons and all our knives and chopping boards and stuff. The lady who had picked us up said "your teacher Jo will be here soon, you will love her she is very very funny ladyboy". Everyone sort of looked at eachother and sure enough, a man in heels came strutting towards us waving and acting very camp! The whole time we were there he was chatting up one of the guys, and he was really entertaining. The three of us loved him! So we made some really nice meals and got to eat them all which was good! First was pad Thai with prawns, then Thai green curry with chicken, then chicken and cashew nut curry, then fried banana in coconut toffee for dessert. I loved all of them except dessert - bananas give me the bolk. So before we got to leave Jo handed us all a shot of whiskey to say cheers and wash down our meals. After last night the last thing I wanted was whiskey, but it felt rude to say no so we drank it and tried hard to keep our meals down! We were given a recipe book to keep and I can't wait to cook the green curry again, it was really good. When we got home michael still hadn't had dinner so we went to get him some food. Our new room has a tv so came home and watched it in bed and had an early night. Have a 6am start in the morning for our trekking tour!
