Gday! We've been a bit slack lately with the blog updates, but better late than never, and here we are with a load of new photos.
It doesn't matter where you are in the world, as soon as you start working again routine kicks in and you long for the weekend! It does ofcourse help that we can walk to work in the sunshine and that we don't have to worry what the weather's going to be like at the weekend!
I've been working for over 6 weeks now at Suncorp bank head office, and Jim is still making good sales on the streets. It was hard getting back in to work after months off, but it's a nice team of people and the work's not too challenging. Getting used to 'Aussie' working ways has been weird but I've settled in and am waiting to hear if they'll extend my contract.
So we've been making the most of weekends and being near to some amazing places, managing to get to the Glasshouse Mountains, Moloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast, with a few fishing trips & barbeques thrown in here and there.
2 weeks ago we headed back up to our first camping spot at Rainbow Beach with a pit-stop for breakfast in Noosa on the way - one of our favourite places - and as you can see from the photos we saw a few sights on the way!
With our Chilean flatmate Cesar in tow this time, we got on to the 'Sand Highway' in Cameron's 4WD truck and drove the 100kms towards Rainbow Beach. You can get there by road but this is a lot more fun and the beach is stunning….miles and miles of empty golden sand and clear blue sea. Being in Australia you expect to see a bit of wildlife when you go camping but not just from driving up the beach. We came across a dead loggerhead turtle and then a dead whale further along that had shark's teeth marks all over it and you could smell it a mile away…eugh!
Once we arrived at camp the others had everything set-up already and we enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine & fishing before tucking in to some food and drink around the campfire. Another lovely weekend…..
And last weekend we managed to combine a friend's 30th birthday party with our flatmate Cesar's leaving do…..an all day event with bbq & beers in the park followed by bars & clubs in the evening. Sadly Cesar has now left us as his visa was expiring so we're down to 4 in the apartment and desperately looking for someone to take his place…..not an easy job, he will be missed! Everyone that's turned up so far has ended up being a freak so we really hope the English guy coming round tonight is normal!!
We now have just under 8 weeks left in Brisbane and hoping to earn as much money as we can and see as many parts of Queensland as we can while we're here. It's been a while since Jim and I have had time to ourselves so we're hoping to get to Byron Bay this weekend…especially as it's going to hit the winter records of 30 degrees! Jim will finally get to surf and I can do what I do best…..relax on the beach!
More about that next time. Hope everyone's well & thanks again for all your messages on here x
