Our last few days in Phuket, we explored on the XR, watched the sunset at Throm thep cape view point, watched the parascending and model planes. On our 2nd to last day it was dull, raining but still scorchio so we went shooting at the shooting range in Jungceylon shopping centre. Jimmy got to shoot a Colt.45, a .38 revolver, a an M4 assault rifle and MP5 assault rifle. I fired a .38 Berretta - which frightened the Cr*p out of me - I enjoyed it but once was enough. Jimmy was gutted they wouldnt let him shoot an M16. He was a great shot though 99% with the M4.
21st April we left Phuket for Vietnam. We arrived at Ho Chi Minh City at 21.00 after a short flight. The 1st thing we noticed was craziness of the traffic - chaos doesnt even discribe it - WTF???? You would have to see it to believe it. They dont use brakes or indicators just beep their horns constantly - a sound that NEVER fecking stops!!! Outside our hotel room ALL night!! lol.
As we got out the taxi on De Tham - the 1st person to approach us was a shady-looking guy on a scooter who took great delight in offering us "Marajuana...opium...anything...I work here everyday - I can get you ANYTHING!!!" lol. Erm ok that was our intro to Vietnam!!! Its dirty, busy, humid, madness, the people are friendly but will stroke the feck out of you! Jimmy paid 80,000 dong for a pineapple (thats about 3 quid - we got 1 in Thailand for 60p - ah well!!! You live and learn - we are toughening up now!
Our 1st day we took a Rickshaw/cyclo to the war museum - it was horrific, went to a local market - which was daunting seeing as we were the only white faces and seemed to be entertaining everyone we passed!
Our first vietnamese meal had to be springrolls - but when we enquired what meat was in them - I heard "Pork", Jimmy heard "Bark" we are now convinced we might of eaten rover :-( - it had NO texture like we have ever tried before and pork isnt brown - IS IT????? lol.
Today we have been looking at a couple of Minsks 125cc for sale (ex-russian army bike)!!!! Watch this space....will update when we can but internet, phones, civilisation is hard to find here!
