We left Khao Lak by local bus to Phuket on 12th April and arrived in the madness of Songkran (thai new year), which is a mass water-fight, dancing and drinking on the streets! We found a hotel or should I say hovel (Golden Beach - it was not near the beach or golden), we dumped the bags and went to buy our weapons! We had a ball! 2 days of soaking every person you pass and being soaked in return. It lasted 12th and 13th and then Phuket returned to its usual state! 3 days ago we hired a bike 250cc XR and had planned to explore but we both have unfortunately been ill for a couple of days and couldnt move more than 5 steps from a loo so we stayed in the new and slightly better hotel (Boomerang Inn)! So we havent seen much of Phuket or its surrounding Islands. Our visas are running out on 21st - so we need to move on. We are exploring our options. Jimmy is trying to head to Oz and I am off to Vietnam and then the Phillipines. We will keep you all posted on our developments and if we go in different directions, you will have both blogs to read!
