24th April we had a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. It was a really interesting place. Its the under-ground network of tunnels that the Viet Cong used to hide from the US army. Jimmy volunteered to go in 1st and after 5 minutes and no sign of him I went in myself!!! The entrance was about 7" x 10" and you have to crawl on your hands and knees, as the tunnel was about 2 foot high and 15" wide, there was no light, no sense of direction, heavy oppressive ...

Our last few days in Phuket, we explored on the XR, watched the sunset at Throm thep cape view point, watched the parascending and model planes. On our 2nd to last day it was dull, raining but still scorchio so we went shooting at the shooting range in Jungceylon shopping centre. Jimmy got to shoot a Colt.45, a .38 revolver, a an M4 assault rifle and MP5 assault rifle. I fired a .38 Berretta - which frightened the Cr*p out of me - I enjoyed it but once was enough...

We left Khao Lak by local bus to Phuket on 12th April and arrived in the madness of Songkran (thai new year), which is a mass water-fight, dancing and drinking on the streets! We found a hotel or should I say hovel (Golden Beach - it was not near the beach or golden), we dumped the bags and went to buy our weapons! We had a ball! 2 days of soaking every person you pass and being soaked in return. It lasted 12th and 13th and then Phuket returned to its usual state...

Well we left Bangkok on 31st March, after a couple of nites on the lash!!! Well its hard when its 30 degrees at nite, the vodka buckets and ice are a welcome distraction. We flew from Bangkok to Phuket with Nok air (jimmy saw a shark swimming off the coast, as we came into land!!! He was well impressed). We got a local bus from Phuket to Khao Lak.
