This morning we drove for two hours to reach Pinniwala Elephant Orphanage. There are 84 elephants there and all have been rescued from areas around Sri Lanka. We arrived in time to see a procession of elephants going down to the river to bathe. They stay there for 2 hours. Last night we ate at Lords Restaurant which is literally over the road from the hotel. I was amazed by the presentation of the food and it tasted great too! I had a coconut chicken curry served with a mushroom risotto - the risotto was served in a coconut shell beside the bowl of curry. Peter was a bit more adventurous with his choice of a fish curry! This trip is taking us to a new destination, Sri Lanka. We booked the trip through Oasis Travel in Queensland and a lovely lady called Lucy O'Neill. We left Melbourne in the early hours of the morning, flying business class with Air Asia.
