Ferry docked in Wellington Sunday afternoon and we dropped our stuff at the hotel, then after a nice wander around had a very nice oriental meal. Mon morning drove to Napier and we loved it, it was completely rebuilt after a massive earthquake in 1931 in Art Deco style (had a nice feel to the place) and because of the Bank holiday there were old cars from that period on display and driving around the streets. Next day on our way to Taupo we stopped at Mission Estate Winnery (oldest in NZ) beautiful building and I forced myself to taste a few, that afternoon we walked along the lake and into the town. Wednesday morning drove just outside the town to an area where blow holes, boiling mud pools and steaming vents had a interesting but somewhat smelly walk around on raised walkways. Onto Huga Waterfall 200,000 litres of water a second (wow) then walked downstream for an hour to thermal pools where we soaked in the natural hot springs, very relaxing. Leave for Waittomo Thursday morning. Bye for now John & Gail.
