Had a long lay in today as yesterday's walking round Melbourne had taken its toll. We had wanted to go to Bells Beach, Torquay, which is the other side of Geelong to watch the World Series Ripcurl Pro Surfing competition but it was to be at least a 3 hour journey on Train and Tram each way with no guarantee that we would even see any surfing so we decided it was not worth the effort. Up at a reasonable time to go try out the local sports centre. Don't get this in UK even though Melbourne didn't have the best weather patterns. Fantastic but simple complex with large gymnasium and 50m 8 lane outdoor pool. Did an hours swim with Jan and Chloe while Azzy worked out in the Gym. Stayed in for the morning bar a short walk to local shops to get some supplies and get our bearings. 4.30am ish and we were up and making ready for our departure. The short drive to the airport is only about 40 mins so after a sleepy farewell to Jen, Checkez and Pete we were on our way. Up a bit earlier today to get to the Wakeboard Park by10am to sign in for the 2 hour session with the first hour of instruction on the beginners lake followed by an hour on the main lake. Although I have done some wake boarding before as has Jan, it was behind a boat and is a little different to being towed on an overhead cable. Azzy has water skied before but not wake boarded.
