My Camino Journey
Tonight we had the most amazing night, I know normally I tell you all about the day, but today although it was good, it was certainly not the highlight.... It was hot and the walk was tough, especially the last 3 or 4 kilometres when the sun was beating down on us and we were walking along the road with no shade.... We got to our Albergue and collapsed on to our bed with exhaustion... But as per normal now recovery is good and once we had showered and somethings to eat we were feeling human again..... New York Nancy and Toni, Michele and a new friend Kathy had all arrived earlier and were sitting out in the backyard area drinking beers and talking about the day, Michele had offered to cook dinner and asked us if w would like to join which we were definitely up for. While dinner preparations were happening drinks were flowing and we were all have the greatest of times. The owner of the Albergue was there also and we invited him to stay and eat dinner with us, he accepted and then cooked up some Spanish peppers for us to add to our feast. We had salad and bruschetta for entree as well as the peppers, however I didn't have any cause they were apparently really hot and I don't like super spicy foods..... Then for mains we had something that was very similar to beef stroganoff.. Michele is Danish so it was her own specialty and was delicious but if I had to say what it was like so you know stroganoff is the best description. It was the best dinner we have had in a long time, and the company was great, heaps of good conversations and laughs about our trip so far... Unbeknownst to us, while we ate dinner the owner of the Albergue has started to cook up Orujo which is the Spanish version of Grappa... Which we then all had to taste, needless to say it was amazing and we all enjoyed watching him cook it and then getting to drink it. Today has been an unforgettable day, it was never planned for us to all be at the same Albergue nor was it the plan that we would all have dinner, but some of the best things in life are the things you don't plan.... And tonight was certainly one of those things.
