My Camino Journey
After a night of excitement and drinking we woke at 6.30 with the idea of being on the road by 7am... Michele, Nancy and Toni were up and had made breakfast of toast and hard boiled eggs, so we got a coffee from the machine and sat and ate toast and eggs..... This did however mean we weren't on the road until after 7.30am.... We knew that today was going to include a climb, and it started pretty quickly at the 1km mark and continued for the next 10km... There were heaps of beautiful views to take in but the climb was just never ending. At the 4.8km mark we entered a town called Herrerias, this is where you can ride horses from here to O'Cebreiro, we were hoping that we would be able to do this to ave ourselves a walk up the 8.4km incline, but when we got there the horses were already booked up.... So climb is what we had to do... We made it to O'Cebreiro just before lunchtime, it wasn't really that far (12km in total) but it was so hilly that it took us much longer than expected. We had a little look around the town which had a lot of souvenir shops, but we don't dare buy anything cause then we have to carry it over 150km to Santiago... All shopping is held off until we reach Santiago, souvenirs included. Phil and Ralph ended up ahead of us for most of the day, so it was just Sonia and I walking. Sonia is the first person I have walked on the Camino with that keeps the same pace as me, whenever I have walked with other people it always felt uncomfortable because I was either speeding up or slowing down... But Sonia and I are very similar, I am a little quicker on the up hills and she is a little quicker on the down hills. Today we also crossed over our last border as well, we are now officially in Galicia, leaving Castilla y Leon just before we arrived in O'Cebreiro. There are 3 different provinces on the Camino and coming into Galicia means your nearing the end of your journey, the landscape changes to be more green and lush, the food changes to be more seafood which I will love and Sonia told me the language changes slightly to a type of Galician slang.... The last 5km seemed to go on forever we still had the occasional hill which was very painful and every corner we turned there was still no town.... Eventually we did see a town, and a lovely Albergue. We could finally relax, eat, shower and then start thinking about the plan for tomorrow.

Nina Hey Jess, b***** about not getting a horse to help with your trip today but on the other had you accomplished a hard part of the journey by walking it! Well done and keep up the great work! You are officially closer to the end than the start!
