thought id give a quick report from our visit to the jungle!! we arrived to our lodge in the amazon rainforest by canoe and were compeltely distracted from our guide after we spotted their pet monkey hanging off the ceiling wearing a nappy! it was only 2 weeks old, called macarana and so cute! we then had a bit of chill out tike cause it had taken us quite a while to get there.. so we hung out with miguel the little kid from the lodge who kept playing jokes on us!
later on we went on a night walk through the jungle which was greattt cause id broken my torch on the inca trail haha. our guide kept going on about their other pet , the little chicken, so when we rolled up at a hole in the ground and he said he was going to call it out we didnt really know what was going on. when a CHICKEN TARANTULA came out of the hole i screamed !
we stayed in our lodge that night with no electricity and our mossy nets! thought we{d see some creepy crawlñeys but i think the lack of lights helped is miss those!! the next day we went on a treck to a lake for a few hours, this wasprobably the most horrible experience of travelling ive had. id eaten something the previous day that really hadnt agreed withmy belly.. which resulted in my having to get more intimate more frequently with the insects than id have liked! as well as these stomach cramps it was very humid and being covered in deets in filhty clothes straight after the inca trail did start to grate! after my illness had sorted itself out though it got a lot better and enjoyed the boat ride looking for anacondas .. we didnt find any!
the last night we went on a hunt for caymen in the dark. we spotted a few and it was wierd cause the boat suddnely stopped by the bank for ages and we wondered what was going then. then all of a sudden our driver appeared in the water next to us holding a cayman.. which he then passed into the boat so we could all hold it .. though the guide held it too when i did cause it was squirming all over the place shh haha!
after the jungle we travelled back to cusco.. again! and finally ATE AT JACKS RESTAURANT!! we{d been meaning to do this for ages after dads recommendation and it went down very well!! the next morning we had a 5hr bus jounrye to puno, it didnt heklp tho that the bus broke down for an hour before wed even left the bus terminal!! there didnt appear much to do in puno when we got here as its mainly about lake titikaka which we were visting the next day so we took the opportunity to go on the net.
the next day we went off ona boat to see lake titkaka, the highest lake in the world.. was quite difficult to breathe which suprised me after doing the inca trail! we visitied the main islansd then went to the penisula of peru to meet our peruvian family we were spending the night with!! me moore and grant had a family who were so nice.. they had a 4 yr old boy and 1 yr old girl which made communication a lot easier since we mainly spoke in 1 yr old language , rather than spanish, handy as between us we probably knew thankyou and goodbye! they dressed us up in peruvian dress for a get together in the evening with dancing and music.. we ddint stay for too long tho cause it was now grants turn to have the lurgi and she was throwing up everywhere.. making a good impression etc etc awww
we said an emotional goodbye in the morning and went to see the uros floating islands. these were really impressive , everything was made of reeds, their houses and boats, lookout tower etc! anyway thats enough waffle for now.. its the end of peru today so will leave it at that.. bolivia tomorrow!! woo. love to all xxxxxxxx
