Hey there people!
Hope you're all keeping well and survived the big freeze!?!
We're both really well and are just getting ready to fly out of New Zealand! We left Queenstown on Wednesday and took a nine hour bus ride back to Christchurch, this time we journey wasn't quite as horrendous as the one to Queenstown! It was quite sad saying 'goodbye' to everyone there and the comforts of our own home...being back in a dorm is a bit of a reality check!!!
Before we left Queenstown we had about 10 days of no work and all play! We took a couple of days (and a friends car) and went to Te Anau to visit the glow worm caves and onto Milford Sound to do a cruise, both were spectacular but the funniest part of the trip was when Karen fell in a creek!Luckily no permanent damage done!!!
We also finally got around to doing our skydive which was awesome, we both loved it even though when the plane door opened we were terrified!! We both have dvds for you to watch when we return!
We also planned a leaving bbq but sadly it was rained off and we were forced to play drinking games in the house and cook sausages in the oven!!!very entertaining!
Apart from paying one last visit to our favourite bars that was pretty much it for our last week!
So we have had about 4 days in Christchurch. Thursday we visited the Botanical gardens which were very pretty, Friday we were planning to have a relaxing morning in the park until karen got stung by the worlds biggest bee! Friday night we planned to go and watch 'Grease' at the twilight movies (outdoor movies with a huge inflatable screen), however, when we arrived we found out the film was the classic romantic 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' and not 'Grease'... it was Karen and I and about 20 couples all cosied up with their picnics and blankets and pillows. We have a sarong to lie on and a Twirl bar to share! Saturday we went to the 'Adrenaline Forest' with a friend from Queenstown. Its similar to 'go ape' at home but we think much harder and more terrifying! There are 6 courses each one getting higher, basically rope swings and wire bridges and wooden ladders and cargo nets etc. 1,2 and 3 were easy. 4 was pretty scary but we made it. Karen very wisely tried number 5 but turned back as Jess and Amanda found themselves close to tears whilst maybe 15meters up clinging onto a tiny wire between 2 swaying trees. We didnt attempt number 6! That night we hit the town and found some really cute bars. Today we packed up (we fear our backpacks are overweight as we can barely pick them up now) and then had lunch with Jenna, who Jess use to work with on the Sunshine coast.
We're really sad to be leaving New Zealand after 5 months but are excited about arriving in Australia and hitting the beach!
Look forward to the postcards!!
Lots of love Karen and Jess xxx
