Bonjour!
Back in France, and you can already tell the difference between Italians and French, and let's just say we DEFINATELY like Italians better! We departed Florence with a stop at Pisa for a few photos and a walk around. You didn't really expect the tower to be leaning THAT much, but it really did! We had an amazing scenic drive along the French Riveria passing through Monaco (the second smallest country in the world after The Vatican... yes we have been to both! J ) where we were told you need to pay 1 million euro to APPLY to become a resident, so you can imagine how it looked. SPECTACULAR! The views were honestly breathtaking, even drawing James away from watching a movie which is almost impossible.
We arrived at our hotel in Nice, which is across from the beach and headed along the famous Promenade des Anglais for some photos, the beach and a kebab. Pretty exhausted from the night before and the bus ride we headed to bed early ready for our yacht cruise to St Tropez!
It was a 2 hour coach ride to Port Grimaud, which was probably the scariest bus ride ever. The bus driver was an absolute douche bag, zig zagging in and out of cars and cutting people off with at least 50 people on the bus - which made me and James officially hate the French. We stopped at Port Grimaud for around 2 hours where we laid on the beach while James headed into the water for a couple of minutes and come back complaining it was "the coldest water he's ever been in besides an ice bath". Back on the coach for another 10 minutes before jumping on a boat to cruise past St Tropez and Millionaire's Bay. We had commentary on the boat of all the people's houses we were passing such as Brian Adams, the people who own Mercedes, Swatch and the owner of Harrods. It really was millionaire's bay with most of the boats we were passing worth over 20 million euro's and with helicopters just chilling on the back. We stopped in St Tropez with our camera's ready to find someone famous. We didn't. We were too interested in smashing down kebabs. It was really nice there, but we definitely felt out of place with our backpacks and kebabs while the men all had supermodels hanging off them driving either Ferraris, Mercedes or some other ridiculously expensive car. We hopped back on the boat with our tour guide telling us how he just took a photo of Brad Pitt. We did see the guide sitting outside a boat for a while back at St Tropez so we did as well to see who he was watching. But we didn't see Brad. We cruised back to the bus where we got to watch the sunset on the water and witnessed another scary ride home on the bus.
Our last day in Nice, we caught a 20 minute train to Monte Carlo, Monaco. After a frustrating time at the train station where the French only speak French and have signs only in French we finally reached Monte Carlo. Clean and spectacular we walked around the wharf looking at multimillion dollar boats were we had a nice lunch on the harbour. We then walked around and found ourselves at the beach which was a rock beach, but more like small pebbles so it felt quite nice to lie on. The water was crystal clear and even warm enough for me to get my hair wet and go swimming several times (which is a miracle!). We stayed their practically all day getting ourselves a nice tan before walking around to the famous Monte Carlo casino and Formula One track.
Spain next. Barcelona first stop. We changed our itinerary to have 7 nights in Barcelona to allow us to relax and enjoy Spain, as I think we are most keen for this stop. It will be nice to stay in one spot for a while, we have been so busy moving around and missing home a little. Not many blogs to go!
