Vic and Jen went on a 2 day trip to Halong Bay. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit, the scenery was just amazing we really weren't expecting it to be that good!
We arranged the trip through the hostel in Hanoi so there were plenty of young folk on the trip. We went kayaking through caves and watched the sun set across the water, it was beautiful! We were really looking forward to having a swim in the Bay but after seeing the amount of HUGE jelly fish we both opted out, obviously the boys on the boat couldn't lose face and jumped on in...and got stung a few times! ha ha
That night the boat anchored ship and we ate great food, lay under the stars and laughed at the young boys and Bruce ( yes he was Australian), our 36 yr old group leader, as they fooled around acting like they were on an 18-30s booze cruise. By that point we couldn't beat them so we had to join them, we stuck to the beer though!!!easily pursuaded hey?!
That night there was a mini storm the thunder and lightening was the loudest and most scary ever...and being on a boat in the middle of nowhere was slightly unnerving but we made it through the night! Thank God.
Next day we headed back to Hanoi and booked into a guest house round the corner from the Back Packers hostel, we needed a good night sleep!!!
Vietnam is a great country, we've met some really cool people and generally had a really good time. The locals were friendly, the food was tastey, not as cheap as you would think though. Everyone should go to Vietnam!
Looking forward to moving onto Laos...
