Woke up to a rather cloudy sky today with thundery showers forecast in Como so decided to stay in Milan for the day instead. We were pretty lazy this morning as we were so shattered! Had a full breakfast to fill us up (they have cake for breakfast here) and then headed out to the city centre. We went to the top of a department store to a rooftop bar (again) and had a drink (with nibbles) whilst being in eye level of the Duomo. We are loving the fact that we are getting given free nibbles like crisps, olives, cheese and mini sandwiches when we order a drink in a bar. Makes a change from being over charged for service and napkins!! After this we felt we had more energy so we tackled the Duomo and climbed the steps to the top. What an incredible view we got. It was a shame that there was some scaffolding up but the views of the city and the architecture of the building itself was amazing. We then decided to try and find some lunch in an area recommended to us from the lady in reception at our hotel. Apparently it is very good for nightlife, bars and restaurants. When we came out of the tube station it was not what we were expecting. It was a very run down area and there was graffiti everywhere you looked. We found a little place to eat which was lovely and the food was good and then wandered a bit more. We decided we didn't feel too safe so headed back. We were fancying a drink so went to some public gardens and bought a beer from the bar and sat on the grass in the sunshine listening to a guy playing tunes on the piano! Ended up staying for longer than we thought and as soon as we stood up realised we needed the toilet. Not good when there are no toilets nearby at all! The walk/ run home was hilarious as we were both desperate. The constant laughing didn't help either. Got back to the hotel in time and caught up on Made in Chelsea NYC (yes we are sad). Shattered today and haven't done much- the past few weeks must be catching up with us. Time for sleep!
