An early start this morning, big breakfast and off we went on the train to Lake Como. WOW. Just WOW. What a stunning and beautiful place. Lake, boats, hills, mountains and pretty villages scattered around. No wonder Mr George Clooney has a place here. We started off in Varenna, very quiet but lovely scenery and some sweet little shops. We then caught the ferry to Bellagio (10 minutes down the lake). This was our favourite town that we visited on the lake as it had the best views and lovely cobbled streets and shops which were perfect for wandering around and collecting souvenirs. We started by having a glass of prosecco with perfect views over the lake (and were given free crisps, olives, cheese and ham which was a huge bonus)! Then we went for a potter round the shops and had lunch at a lake view restaurant which was nice. We bought our ferry ticket to travel to Como and had to wait for an hour so what better way to do that than take in the scenery with a glass of prosecco! There's definitely a theme with us, Italy and drinks!! Caught the ferry which took an hour to get to Comp and had a nap! Como was very busy. Again we wandered the shops and took in the surroundings with ice cream! Had some interesting things being sold in the markets and interesting people selling them as usual. By then we were feeling peckish again so wandered down to the lake edge and harbour and found a little restaurant. Had food and then rushed to the station to catch the next train back to Milan. After lots of travel we finally got back to the hotel and felt very grubby and tired. Quite a lot of travel today but was such a lush day. Think it could possibly be my best day so far. Would definitely go back. Early start tomorrow as the next stop is: Switzerland!!
