Before we left for Milan we had a quick trip to the palace to see the Bridge of Sighs. We saw lots of prison cells too which was cool. Got to the station and jumped on the train- had a very odd Chinese man sat next to us for some of it but luckily he got off before our stop!
The train station is Milan was unbelievably busy and were getting vet frustrated as we couldn't find the toilets. We were following the toilet signs but then that didn't bring us to the toilets and then we asked someone where they were, followed his directions and they still weren't there! We finally found them after asking about 3 different people (all staff that worked there). We have learnt not to trust other peoples directions!! Got to the hotel and went straight out to explore the city. The Duomo is amazing, very grand and exquisitely made. Then we went to the castle (biggest in the world we were told). We wandered through the back to the gardens and there was a dance tent with lots of older people ballroom dancing. Within 2 minutes of being stood there watching an old man came up to is asking us to dance! We politely declined and then another man came along! Was very funny. We were feeling very tired so wandered back down to the metro station and decided to grab a quick drink to rest our legs- but no! We bought a drink each (€4) and went to sit down but were told we couldn't as we only payed €4, you have to pay €7 if you want to sit down! You can imagine our reaction! We then got peckish so found a small restaurant and ordered a pizza each. We had learnt from previous times that when bread is put on the table that sometimes they charge you so we didn't eat it. Came to the bill and they had charges is for the bread as well as putting on extra service charge. Obviously we questioned it with the waiter and be pointed out on the menu that you are charged for 'bread and services'. We explained we hadn't eaten the bread and he said that we did use the service, you have to pay for the napkin!!!! That's an extra €4 as well as nearly €4 service charge (which they had worked out from the total including the bread and service cost so was higher than it should be). We were not impressed so paid our bill in cash exactly to the penny and left. We had a very funny discussion on the way home about our country and how we don't charge extra for napkins or seating etc. Definitely a tourist trap! Came home had a few drinks and went to sleep- sleep is definitely needed.

Alison OMG! I hope you took all the bread with you, and all the napkins?!
