Last full day in Budapest started with well deserved relaxation time at the thermal baths. Definitely needed after last night (we both felt very delicate this morning, needing a McDonald's breakfast to bring us to life). Also we discovered that Hungarians are rather lazy and the shops don't open until atleast 10- 10.30. We think this is because drinks are so cheap they allow them extra time in bed in the mornings!! It seemed to take forever to walk to the baths, nearly died of heat exhaustion and didn't realise how long it would actually take to get there. 16 baths, saunas and steam rooms to test. Our favourite was definitely the outdoor thermal pool heated to 38 degrees... Beautiful! We were determined to test out all of the baths, including the ice cold ones! 16 degrees- was definitely an in and out job! Also tried the hottest room which was a 60-70 degree steam room. You won't be surprised to hear that we didn't stay in there long! Had a few beers on the terrace (of course) over looking the baths and had fun in the whirlpool too! Walked home through the Vaci Utca shopping street, spying a lovely square to have dinner at later. After an hour nap to recuperate we headed out for dinner and did lots of people watching. Now we are all packed and ready to experience our first inter rail train journey tomorrow morning. Good bye Budapest- you have been amazing! Next stop: Vienna! :-)
