Jen's Journeys
Another misty day, so we headed into town to meet up with kalin and her friend again before they went back to Valencia tonight. We did get some churros y chocolate, which was delicious. Then we went to meet a couple of the kids near the Guggenheim just to check in and say hi, but only one made it. Another one who was supposed to be there couldnt get there since her family was all asleep at 4 pm (ah, the siesta), and the other girl, it turns out, is having the same clash of cultures as the one I've mentioned before. A sassy girl with sassy friends who like to cause trouble. I haven't been here in 7 years, and after that many trips to the warm and hospitable Latin American countries, you forget how spaniards can be. It's not that they aren't nice, but they are not what you'd call accommodating, either. For example, if my host lady makes one more joke about me being vegetarian or make one more dismissive hand gesture at me when talking to Jeanne about meat (I mean really, who talks about meat that much?), I'm going to scream. Well, on the inside. Again, not that she's not nice, she is very nice. It is just a really different culture here and I'm being forced to remember that. So anyway, we ended up spending some time with our one boy (the student that made it to the meeting point) and his host brother for a while, and then wound up hitting another movie. This time one I hadn't heard of, but it was good. Something like "the best exotic hotel marigold". A least I think that's its English title. Jeanne actually wound up sleeping through half of it, but watched enough to decide she wants to rent it at home and watch it because the parts she managed to watch seemed good. I felt like I was at the movies with my grandma. Hi, grandma! :) So tonight I'm just catching up on some emails. Didn't really take pictures today, so the blog is like a big people's book - no pictures, just words. :) Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy (again, the rain does not stay on the plains, Eliza Doolittle) so we are going to go to the Guggenheim (and actually go in this time!) and their other art museum before hopefully catch a break with the weather and heading to San Sebastian on Wednesday. Happy Monday, everyone!

Mom Ha, ha to the grandma comment!!! Yes that movie is suppose to be very good - especially for us "older" people.
jblaschke I just saw the same movie on Wed. It will be worth seeing again, Jeanne, as it has a "message" for ...'when in Rome...". Those who succumb and make the "best" of all situations WILL rise and...ENJOY their stay no matter where they are. Those who CAN't and WON'T need to return to the USA. It is about dreaming and looking for the good in everything.
Jen Charles I apparently need to get More up on my pop culture! I appear to be the only person who had not heard of this movie!
