Making the most of an extremely long journey to Koh Tao consisting of 2 taxis, 3 busses and a cargo boat, we manage to squeeze in a 3 hour boat trip to James Bond Island.
The trip to James Bond Island sounds a lot more glamorous than it actually is, believe me and it proves to be a total waste of time. I still am none the wiser as to which James Bond movie was actually filmed here!!! The trip consisted of 1hr 20 there, 20mins on the Island, 1hr 20 back!! Total nightmare to be honest!! The tiny beach on the Island was the only thing to see and was crammed with small stalls selling overpriced tat by overly aggressive, rude women.
Nightmare over and a cramped night on a cargo boat later, we had arrived on Koh Tao extremely early in the morning. Following hordes of backpackers, we ended up at a beach front resort complete with wooden bunglaows, not too shabby indeed. Bags dumped, we waited for a more reasonable hour then headed to the beach. Bliss.
The following day marked the end of Emma and Dave's holiday, we waved them off and spent a lazy day at the beach which is where we were to spend the next few days!!
In between sunbathing, eating and drinking both myself and Sarah treated ourselves to new tattoos. Sarah had stars on her foot and I finally covered up the star on my back with a famous Feather and Bird piece designed by the grafitti artist Banksy. I had heard alot about Bamboo tattooing before coming to Thailand so was desperate to try out the technique but due to the shading on my tattoo it couldnt be done by bamboo. Gutted!!
After 5 days on Koh Tao we were sad to be leaving but our last night was spent in style, cocktails on the beach watching the sun set. Koh Tao is definately one of my favourite places so far, it's kind of like the calm before the storm with a really laid back, relaxed vibe. Next stop...Koh Samui!!
