So I spent my first 5 days staying with friends and then on friday the 13th I moved into Noah's hostel, still in Bondi. That first weekend wasn't so great .. the people in my dorm were either in large, connected groups or just in Sydney briefly and not of the whole backpacker mentallity. I made it through walking the coast and eating by myself. Fortunately on Sunday the dynamics of the room changed and 2 english girls from Loughborough Uni moved in. We went out to a very underground club called the White Revolver and then into the city. The next day I was up early to complete my Responsible Service of Alcohol course .. great when ever so slightly still drunk/hungover! Unfortunately the girls were forced to leave the next day but that's when Naomi and Charlotte moved in!! I met up with Lisa from the GAP tour out in Kings Cross that night and had a gorgeous dinner -not cheap but portions are huge!! The next day Jess arrived!! I pretty much spent the whole of last week getting more and more stressed about money, applying for jobs, looking for uniform for temp work and checking out flats. Finally on Friday it all came together. We'd replied to an advert earlier in the week about a 5 bed flat, me and Jess were looking as it's roughly the same price as hostels, especially with prices going up over the holidays and Naomi and Charlotte's place had fallen through. We visited on Thursday and decided it'd be perfect if the landlady would look for someone else. On Friday we paid deposits and then before my planned trip to the beach I headed into the Nosh office (the hospitality temp agency that I'm now working for) to pick up some uniform for my first gig Saturday. They were looking for staff for an event that had come up that night so I did my first shift at the Ivy, Sydney!! On Saturday I worked Polo in the Park and next week I'll be at the golf (Aussie open). After work on Saturday it was the usual shenanigans and a bit of a boogie in the city!! Sunday a day on the beach (40 degrees!!). Today the weather's not been so hot but we're rolling with it! Can't wait until tomorrow to move into our place, be able to do a food shop, unpack and get life back to a bit of normality!! More updates soon!
