Kings Canyon is referred to as Australia's Grand Canyon. Not quite how we would describe it, even the size doesn't compare. However, we enjoyed our time there walking along the canyon bottom. We decided against the canyon rim walk as the climb was a bit steep for our level of fitness!! Although there were plenty of trees and wildlife everything was so dry compared with the canyons and gorges in the far north of the northern territory. It's hard to believe it actually floods in the wet season. It was so peaceful sitting looking up at the deep red walls of the canyon and not a sound to be heard.
The night was not as tranquil as the area has plenty of dingoes (we did get a photo of one) and we had to listen to them howling the whole time.
Onwards towards South Australia and across the Great Victoria Desert which will probably take 2 days.
6000+ miles so far.
