On the 9th we went to visit Jills friends Jan & Max who live 15mins out of Bairnsdale in Victoria. They have just started building on a nice block in the country and made us up a very cozy warm room in the garage for the cool night outside. We went out to the local pub for tea which is said to be haunted and is over 100 years old. It has just been refurbished, the old guest rooms have been converted into individual dining rooms conplete with a toasty fireplace so it was lovely. Had a yummy dinner there before a huge sleep in!
Next day we headed off for Melbourne, beautiful hot day. We got to Bobbys cafe just in time for a yummy coffee just before closing! We were so excited to meet Bobby and Andys 3 month old Oliver, a gorgeous and very well behaved baby!
They cooked us a delicious dinner of rack of lamb so spolit. After a sleep in the next day we went to the cafe for brunch (convienently downstairs) which was recently named the best brekkie in Melbourne, and we would have to agree. We both had yummy brekkies and tried a few new things, a black pudding hash for Luke and Jemma tried white asparagus and morel mushrooms with our eggs and sourdough. Delish!
Bobby & Ollie took us shopping to DFO for a couple of hours then Luke & I took the train into the city. First stop was boutique beer cafe called Beer Deluxe as it was a hot day & we were both dehydrating! After that we walked around the streets, looked at the street graffiti art and then crossed the bridge over to the Crown Casino.
had some yummy drinks ($5 Jagerbombs anyone?) and dinner before catching a movie. We were absolutely exhausted after our city adventure!
