Left Bobby & Andys around 11am and headed for the Great Ocean Road. We stopped in Torquay which is where Australias surf brands were started for some shopping and lunch. Just out of town was Bells Beach, where the Ripcurl pro is held each year here and where surfers from all over the world come to surf. Unfortunately minimal swell while we were there not even half a metre.
Started on the Great Ocean Road which we had been looking forward to and it is such a nice drive. Very green and beautiful views reminded us of NZ. We decided to stay in a neat town called Lorne for the night, another YHA and it was really nice. After dinner some backpacker guys had a whole heap of bird food to feed the local birds, we had about 20 cockatoos eating out of our hands it was amazing. One of Lukes birds was a little bit nasty bit him twice on the finger with its huge beak hahaha. He said it was worth it though!
Today we had a big drive from Lorne to Port Fairy. On the way we stopped in Otway Treetop walk, which is a track which takes you into the bush then on suspended platforms up to canopy height in the tree tops. It was really nice and quite high from the
viewing tower! We carried on the trip headed for the 12 Apostles, and they really were breathtaking. You cant really see them from the road so when we walked the track over to see them we were like WOW. Took thousands of pics, and luckily the weather cleared a bit for us while we were there. Now we are in a YHA in Port Fairy, great facilities cooked up a yummy tea and hopefully the sun shines tomorrow so we can walk to the island. Will put up pics when we get to Adelaide probaby, our internet is really slow out here. Talk to you all soon xoxo
