From Albany we travelled onto Augusta, with a pit stop in a place called Pemberton. We had been recommended Pemberton from our travel agent in Maroochydore for one reason - the Gloucester Tree. In the national park the Pemberton tree is 64 metres tall but has iron prods stuck out of the side all the way to the tippy top, which you climb up with NO supervision, ropes, harnesses etc. Climb at your own risk. Drove on to Albany today, about 4 hours drive. Great down, very helpful and friendly people at YHA who showed us heaps of things to see, so we decided to stay two nights. Atfer Adelaide came our huge couple days of driving. Our first night we stayed in Port Augusta, pretty average town so we were glad to leave early the next day. On Thursday the 14th we decided to do a longer days drive, as the place we originally going to stay didnt look that great and we felt we could go a bit longer.
