Today we drove down to Jervis Bay, about 3 hours south of Sydney. We saw a Getaway episode which covered a campsite in the area called Green Patch, and it was wonderful.
It has the whitest sand in Australia, and the campsites are in the bush right on the beach.
The sites are a decent size and cleared for you with tree trunks defining the edges. Its really nice and quiet because your neighbours are 10-20m away. The camp also has hot showers and modern bathrooms which were a luxury camping!
We set up the tent once we arrived and did a few walks around the bush, checked out the sand which was stunning and the rockpools to search for creatures.
While cooking noodles for tea we heard some rustling in the bushes, and found a baby wallaby jumping around our site. Very cute.
Best campsite we have ever seen, would highly reccomend to anyone.
The next day we checked out a few other beaches in the area, it was pretty hot so did some sunbathing. From the beach we saw a weird rumbiling in the water and up popped a submarine, not something you see everyday.
Got on the road again and headed 3.5 hours south to a small beach town called Merimbula. Checked into the YHA there and we basically had the place to ourselves. Went out for tea at the local BYO Thai place and had a pretty early night.
