JB & PG's Big Adventure
Hi all, (sorry for any confusion, for some unknown reason the huge great country that is Namibia is not on the list of options on this website, hence it's now under Botswana.) We have now made it into Namibia.......just. Our truck broke down yesterday on the outskirts of Etosha NP. We had to limp out of the park so we could get out of the vehicle to undertake maintenance. Finally made it to the nearest town where the alternater fell off on the garage forecourt as we pulled up. So we have been stuck for the night in a town called Outjo. Luckily it has an internet cafe. Etosha NP was beautiful and we spent many hours game driving through the park. No big cats to be seen though. Both our camp sites had waterholes and on the second night we had 3 rare black rhinos and 17 elephants come down to drink and cool off.
Boy is it hot here and life on the truck is becoming very demanding. We have the desert to come but mostly i am looking forward to seeing the sea again. The mighty atlantic is only 2 days away. Yippeee!!!!
We will be based at Swakopmund where we hope to take a balloon ride over the desert and I hope to get on a surfboard again. Hanging 5 on the skeleton coast. Namibia has a strong German influence and is much more westernised than we expected.Coffee and Kuchen can be found on a regular basis. We already have plans to come back here in the future. Lots of love to everyone and a big HIGH to little Win. Now where's my cake......... Pete (and Janet)
